Librarian’s Note: Our little sister the Moon does what she does best, taking a big smack for the team, but this time around the impactor is big enough to fracture the Moon. Referred to as the Rima Sirsalis (15.7S, 61.7W) fault, it’s growing and changing, and the Moon has lost some 700 billion tons of mass, its orbit has changed, Earth’s weather is freaking out, meteorites start dropping in periodically, and only Stephen Baldwin, reluctant hero, can save the day. While it tries to purvey a sense of ’science faction’, the errors are numerous and throughout the movie, all to escalate the sense of dramatic tension. Like the shuttle whooshing through a debris field like an F-15 fighter with nuclear turbine engines, or the iron-uranium Lunar sample from an impact in Baltimore. You have been warned.
