This resource uses Native American stories to introduce space science concepts. “Man and Impact in the Americas”Ken Murphy / 1:51 am January 1st, 2005 Grondine, E.P. “Neil, Buzz, and Mike Go to the Moon”Ken Murphy / 1:37 am January 1st, 2005 Hilliard, Richard “First Facts: The Moon”Ken Murphy / 1:27 am January 1st, 2005 Winrich, Ralph “The Little Moon Phase Book”Ken Murphy / 1:01 am January 1st, 2005 Grice, Noreen. Braille transcription by Visual Aid Volunteers, Inc. Librarian’s Note: Wow! Braille Moon books. Wow! These are amazing. Four pages of basic text, with the braille as raised, kind of like hardened-glue, bumps underlying their corresponding graphic letter. The pages are folded cardstock for durability. The wire binding is a bit tight, so there may be excess wear from the turning of pages. The best part is the eight pages of Moon renderings. They step from New through Full Moon and to Waning Crescent. It is shown photographically, on a black box, with the circumference again in hard-glue raised dashes. On each visible part of the Moon the Mare are ringed, and the craters are raised, shaped to their outline. Brighter ray fields also have an outline. Glows in the dark, too. The only thing missing is identification of the major features, which would require further guidance. I’m going to go nerd out for a while and maybe learn a bit of braille. Full Moon at perigee rating, without question. “El Pequeño Libro de las Fases de la Luna”Ken Murphy / 1:00 am January 1st, 2005 Grice, Noreen. Transcripción a Braille por Thamara Z. Quintero Nota del Bibliotecario: Eso libro es de maravilla. Las texturas son táctil y fluorescente, con letras grandes y Braille. I have been looking for this one for ages. This is one of the “Legendary Titles” amongst space advocates, as it involves Andy Griffith sending a junkyard salvage rocket to the Moon. “Footprints in the Dust”Ken Murphy / 12:41 am January 1st, 2005 Otto, John “Phases of the Moon”Ken Murphy / 12:39 am January 1st, 2005 “Phases of the Moon” Apollo 11: First Men on the MoonKen Murphy / 12:00 am January 1st, 2005 Godwin, Robert Destination Moon: The Apollo Missions in the Astronauts’ Own WordsKen Murphy / 12:00 am January 1st, 2005 Pyle, Rod Rocket Man: Astronaut Pete Conrad’s Incredible Ride to the Moon and BeyondKen Murphy / 12:00 am January 1st, 2005 Conrad, Nancy & Howard Klausner Apollo 12: Ocean of Storms (DVD)Ken Murphy / 12:00 am January 1st, 2005 “Apollo 12: Ocean of Storms” Mission to the Moon (DVD)Ken Murphy / 12:00 am January 1st, 2005 “Mission to the Moon” |
