Librarian’s Note: I’ve been waiting for the re-release of this title this year, but it keeps getting pushed back (now September), so I went ahead and picked up the 1st edition. The date is 2053 and you live at Tycho. Do you choose to go to the far side with the geology team, or give a tour to a group of VIPs from Earth?

One item of note: The blurb on the back calls it the ‘dark side of the [M]oon’, even though within the story it is consistently referred to as the far side. Just a reminder: the Far Side is the side we never see (without robot cameras), the Dark Side is whichever half of the sphere the Sun is not shining on, the half that is not illuminated (by sunlight), whichever side is facing away from the Sun. You can see the dark side of the Moon for a goodly portion of the month. A Moonbase on the near side of the Moon would receive Earthlight (guesstimated to be 40 -80 times brighter than moonlight here on Earth) while on the dark (unilluminated) side of the Moon. A Moonbase on the far side would not receive Earthlight while on the dark side. Hopefully they’ll get it right for the upcoming 2nd edition.
